Permalink Reply by Andy Copeland on October 14, 2011 at 11:30 All Hole cutting equipment is standardised at 4.25'' diameter (www.randa.org)
The current playing hole at TP is trimmed and the depth setter is used daily to keep the hole at its correct depth and shape.
What is not standardised at golf clubs is the variables i.e. 1) golfers etiquette, 2) surface quality ect.
Unfortunately for you, (1) Trent Park is a very busy and not everyone replaces the flags carefully enough to miss the wall of the hole, which once knocked with the Ferrell of the flag it misshapes the hole. (2) When the top inch of the green becomes wet, it is very hard for the hole to keep its shape especially when there is a lot of traffic and movement around the hole.
Sorry you feel like the holes are smaller here than Turkey or any where else, I can assure you daily maintenance to retain the shape and size is a procedure that’s in place.

Permalink Reply by Rico Fernandez on October 18, 2011 at 23:20 John the holes this week were the best I have seen them since the Drummond.
I think the greenkeepers have a tough job especially with the amount of traffic they get through Friday to Sunday. But I agree that the shape of the holes on most Sundays are a joke. I really don't know what to suggest to make it right.
Overall Andy and the green keepers are doing a great job, every year the course gets better and better.
Keep up the good job..
