The very windy conditions this weekend was a test for all players; especially when you're playing in a Medal competition where everyone plays off of scratch; Played over two days, it was Alvaro Mata who won with scores of 73 and 71. John Villa came 2nd and Paul Murphy 3rd.
I must apologise to Alvaro for not being there to present the trophy in person, as I had to leave after my round as I was suffering with really painful gums. (Yes, gums in my mouth). I will however look forward when…Continue

Alvaro Mata plays off scratch and had to give Willie Ryan 17 shots and still won! But only on the 36th hole.
Willie Ryan is a steady player and normally plays to his handicap and was very pleased to get to the singles final and take the game all the way. He said to me "he wished the game was over just 18 holes" as he was 2 up at that stage.
On Bank Holiday Monday, TPGC had 2 teams playing Cobtree Manor both home and away.
Both teams won convincingly and go through to the next round. This follows on from the 1st round win against Woodford last month.
The home team and scores are as follows: Bernadette Sheehan (32) Dave Berkoff (32) and Paul Bennett (31) Andrea (29)
The away team scores were Alan Forbes (38) Jane Ried (27) and Andy Elliott (33) and Billie Waters (26).
Well played team!

A repeat of the 2011/12 Winter Greensomes final of Andy Elliott & Alan Crouch v Nikos & John Cottrim but with a different outcome this time.
Finals are normally played over 2 rounds, but as scores were tied after 36, the players had to go to sudden death to decide who won. And this time Nikos and John won on the 4th or should I say the 40th hole.…Continue
In memory of our late president Pat McGinley, who sadly passed away last year, TPGC organised a new Major Charity Golf Competition in his honour. We have a new trophy and the winners will be engraved on a new honours board that we will produce in time for Presentation night.
Pat was a very likeable and quite man and was a member of the club for many years before becoming our President in 2011. Pat was retired but worked for charity, helping Chipping Barnet Care Centre in his spare…Continue
