Captain's Report July 2010 - Highlights and news from Trent Park Golf Club

Dear Members

As we move into the second half of the year here are some recent highlights and news from Trent Park Golf Club for June and July 2010.

Summer Midweek League Kick-off

June and July have seen the start of the new Summer Midweek League sponsored by Nevada Bobs. We have seen some fantastic scoring with Dave Comerford shooting 41 points to claim June's £20 voucher. Remember there is one voucher up for grabs each month for the best score as well as £50 to the league leader in September.

The Drummond

Another highlight has been the Drummond Championship in June which was won by Luke Stephanides. Luke's 2 day total of 148 was a fantastic achievement - well done Luke!

The competition did not run without incident with the disqualification of 3 members for failing to sign / pay before teeing off. We remind members that they must sign-in using the Green Competition book and ensure payment is placed into the competition box before teeing off.

The committee will look again at the use of the book in Major competitions later this year ahead of the Annual General Meeting in November.

The Hawtree

Well done to the mixed foursomes team who over the last three months beat Whitewebbs (Home), Little Hay (Away) but were pipped to the post by Cobtree Manor GC in July. We wish them well for the next round. Thank's to Bernadette Sheehan for all her efforts in organising the teams and travel plans.

Frank Rowse Trophy

After a storming victory earlier in the year our scratch boys went to West Middlesex to play the second round of the prestigious Frank Rowse Trophy. Playing on the same day as the British Open final we failed to get through to the next round after 36 holes of golf. Well done to everyone who took part and better luck next year!

Men's Championship of England

We have had some success this year with Martin Neiland qualifying for the National Final of the NAPGC Men's Championship of England Medal event. Good luck in Woodhall Spa in September!

UKPCC Regional Finals

Trent Park Golf Club had13 players representing the club at the UKPCC regional final in Hainult Forest recently, with two qualifiers who each will play at St Andrews in September.

Well done to (some bloke called) Matt Clarke and to Bharat Dave who both shot 37 points to qualify for the National final held on the Eden Course at St Andrews.

Joint Captain's Day 2010

On July the 4th we held our premier stableford event of the year Captain's Day. A full list of results has already been

posted on-line and the complete results sheets (men) (ladies) are available in case you missed them. Speaking on behalf of the Committee and the Lady Captain we all felt it was a wonderful day of golf and thank you to all who played. Well done to 'Big Mark' and Billie Waters who won the Ladies and Men's overall prizes. All the photos are still on-line and prints can be purchased via the Captain at a price of £3 each.

Charity Fund Raising

We raised £635 for charity on the Raffle on the day as well as a further £120 from Nevada bobs who organised a charity nearest the pin on hole 11. This is a staggering amount and a special thank you must go to Tony Davies who was the chief fund-raiser at the event. This years Captains Charity is Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
