I wanted to write to you about a subject which unites everyone in golf – namely that there is nothing more important than keeping young people and other vulnerable groups safe.

It is vital that everyone not only has fun playing golf and developing their skills, but that they also feel protected within all areas of the game.

Safeguarding policies and procedures are in place across all elements of our society. England Golf has determined that appropriate safeguarding policies and procedures must be in place across all affiliated golf clubs by the end of March 2021.

In order to achieve this, Trent Park Golf Club has undertaken the following:

• Adoption of the England Golf Junior and Young Adult Safeguarding Policy
• Ensuring that appropriate safeguarding procedures are in place
• Adoption and use of the set procedures for the recruitment and deployment of
  officers/members/volunteers who work with juniors (albeit not currently an area that
  materially affects Trent Park Golf Club Members)
• Appointment of a Club Welfare Officer (Ian Rickard) to whom any concerns may be

• The approval by the Trent Park Golf Club Committee of the England Golf “Adults at Risk
  Policy”
