Trent Park Ladies held their 3rd Open on Friday 18th and it was with some intrepidation that I set off for the club house at 6.30am! I needn’t have worried. The day was a great success and even the weather held up until the last group came up the 18th!
28 ladies from Hadley Wood, North Middlesex, Leaside, West Essex, Bush Hill and of course Trent Park played in a 4BBB stableford competition. The course was in excellent condition considering the amount of rain we have had lately and the golf was mostly good. Everyone enjoyed themselves, although some found it more challenging due to playing off ¾ handicap. (Not next year ladies!).
We had our lunch and prize giving in the pool room, for which I have to thank Brendan for setting the room out so nicely. I particularly want to thank Vince and his team for a lovely meal and excellent service. It all ran very smoothly.
Just before giving out the prizes, I took the opportunity to pay tribute to this year’s club President, Lynwen and presented her with a lovely bouquet of flowers on behalf of all the TP Ladies. It was a surprise to her, but I think greatly appreciated.
Congratulations go to all the ladies who won prizes for nearest the pin and longest drive, but it was Trent Park Ladies who this year won the major prizes; with Andrea and her partner Laura (OK she plays at West Essex) who were runners up and Billie and Jane being overall winners. Well done to you all!!
I want to thank all the TP Ladies for helping me organise the event. In particular, Jane for her excellent publicity, nearest the pin and longest drive markers and the sponsorship adverts. The graphics looked great and made the whole event look very professional! Also, to Billie and Bernadette for organising the goodie bags (thanks to Nevada Bobs for their contribution) and to all our sponsors: Dave Birkoff, Paul Murphy, Lynwen Bailey, Argentum Ltd, Alex Slavin, Nevada Bobs, Nero Jani and Cozmick Ltd. And thank you to Crispin for stepping in at the last minute to be our starter and photographer!
All in all it was a great day. I think that the Trent Park Ladies Open is fast becoming a highlight of the golfing calendar, so here’s hoping that next year’s will be bigger and better!
Oh and thank you so much Ladies for the flowers!!
